Ohio County got control of the game early and never looked back on Friday, as inconsistency on both ends of the floor came back to bite the Raiders in a 71-48 home loss.
It was a back and forth affair in the first quarter, with the Eagles taking a slight edge and a 14-12 lead into the second. There Ohio County capitalized on momentum, knocking down four of their seven first-half threes in the quarter and nearly holding Trinity (Whitesville) to single digits en route to a 36-22 halftime lead.
The Raiders misfortune continued coming out of the locker room, as they were held to eight points in the quarter and led to a 49-30 deficit heading into the fourth. Trinity had its best quarter of the night then with 18 points, but they just couldn’t slow down Ohio County and were outscored as the 71-48 loss came to a close.
Nine different players scored for the Eagles with Elijah Decker’s 18 and Parker Culbertson’s 17 leading the way. Senior Landon Huff led the way for the Raiders with 12, while fellow senior Nate Hernandez added 11 and sophomore Hayden Aull chipped in 10.
Trinity falls to 11-13 overall with the loss, as they’ll look to regroup and turn things around quickly on the road Tuesday against Union County at 7:30 p.m.
