The Lady Devils stifled Trinity (Whitesville) in a road win on Monday, while Daviess County used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Hopkinsville and Apollo struggled to find a rhythm in a home loss to Barren County.

Owensboro vs Trinity (Whitesville)

The Lady Devils were clicking on all cylinders Monday, using a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to defeat Trinity (Whitesville) 63-32.

Owensboro got right to work out of the gates, holding the Lady Raiders to single digits in the first quarter to take a 15-5 lead. The Lady Devils held Trinity to single digits again in the second, ultimately building their lead to 30-13 at halftime.

The Lady Raiders luck didn’t change in the second half, as they were outscored 33-19 en route to the 63-32 win. Owensboro got offense from all over on the night, with 12 different players scoring with senior Chandler Worth’s nine points leading the way.

Meanwhile, senior Josie Aull led the way with 10 points, as she was the only Trinity player to score more than six points. The Lady Raiders fall to 0-12 with the loss, getting right back to work on the road against Evansville Christian at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

On the other hand the Lady Devils now sit at 12-5 with back-to-back wins, as they’ll look to make it three straight when they hit the road to take on Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Daviess County vs Hopkinsville

The Lady Panthers got points in bunches on Monday night, getting multiple players involved en route to a 70-46 home win over Hopkinsville.

After a slow start led to a 15-13 deficit for Daviess County going into the second, they were able to bounce back with a monster 23 points—14 of them coming from senior Adylan Ayer. The defense followed suit, limiting the Lady Tigers to single digits to take a 36-23 lead into halftime.

The Lady Panthers didn’t slow down in the third, as Ayer added 10 more points in the third and eventually helped Daviess County close the door on a 70-46 win. Ayer led all scorers with 26 points, while sophomore Emme Roberts followed with 12, serving as two of 10 different Lady Panthers that scored in the contest.

Daviess County moves to 6-10 with the win, now taking a few days before a road district bout with Apollo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Apollo vs Barren County

Rusty offense and a near 30-point performance from Trojanettes junior Abby Varney were Apollo’s downfall on Monday, losing at home 47-37.

Varney grabbed nine points for Barren County in the first quarter, but the E-gals were able to drill three from beyond the arch to help them take a 13-11 lead. Apollo didn’t stay out in front for long though, as they were limited to two baskets in the second and went into halftime trailing 20-17.

The E-gals were never able to get back to a lead either, as Varney grabbed 14 points in the second half to finish the night with 27 and lead the Trojanettes to the 47-37 win. Freshman Kennedy Lane was the only player to score in double figures for Apollo, totaling 21 points on the night.

Apollo falls to 5-12 overall with the loss, as they’ll look to bounce back in their next home game against Daviess County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
