Following a strong football and wrestling career at Apollo High School, Blaze Cart had decided to keep his talents on the mat by signing to wrestle at Midway University.

“It feels very relaxing knowing I’m going to continue wrestling,” Cart said. “Doing the sport I love the most. When I officially decided it was very pleasant to see everyone that cared to see what I would be doing for my future.”

Cart said that while he didn’t initially jump at Midway right away, once he toured campus he could foresee himself loving being there and contributing to a growing program.

“When I heard about Midway University I never heard of the school before, but I wanted to explore all my options,” Cart said. “I saw that it was a very growing program that’s on the come up. I decided I wanted to be a part of the change. When coach Brumbelow texted me he was super nice and wanted to show me everything and really wanted me to wrestle for him. “

While wrestling, Cart will also be majoring in business concentration with a focus on leadership at Midway. And while Cart is thrilled to take the next step in his athletic and academic career, he will miss those he’s played with at Apollo—especially one of his coaches that has helped shape him into the wrestler he has become.

“The thing I will miss most about my team is my coach Luke Shaffer,” Cart said. “He has helped me through everything in life and given me life lessons. He has taught me so much and I’m going to miss him.”
