Following a strong senior season with a memorable Daviess County team, Isaiah Tomes will continue his career on the gridiron at Kentucky Wesleyan.
Tomes is coming off a strong season to close out his high school career, totaling 578 receiving yards on 44 receptions. Eight of those receptions were for touchdowns, while averaging 44.5 yards per game.
After helping the Panthers grab their third district championship in school history, Tomes is ready to join the Panthers once again—just in purple and white.
“It’s definitely one of the best feelings ever,” Times said. “God has blessed me so much. I now know that all the hard work that I’ve put in has finally paid off and I have nothing to worry about moving forward.”
Tomes said that he was a made a priority in the recruiting process and felt like he would have a second home in Kentucky Wesleyan.
“I chose Kentucky Wesleyan because the coaches recruited me really hard and made me feel like I was part of a family,” Tomes said.
Tomes also loved the school itself, as he is excited to join the program and also get into his studies of Sports Management.
“Although I’ve been in Owensboro all my life, being on campus with the coaches is like a whole different atmosphere,” Tomes said. “We’re building something really special and I’m excited to do it in my hometown.”
Being a multi-sport athlete and being from Owensboro, Tomes has had countless memories tied to Daviess County. And while he isn’t straying too far from home, Tomes will miss all the time he’s spent with his teammates.
“I think the thing that I’ll miss most about high school sports is the locker room,” Tomes said. “In football and basketball, I’ve had some of the best teammates I could ever ask for. Joking around before/after practice and hanging out after a win is something I will definitely miss.”
