Unable to stifle Raigan Price, her 24-point performance helped lead Webster County to a 49-39 win over the Lady Panthers on Saturday.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the first quarter, as the Lady Trojans had the slight edge and grabbed an early 13-12 lead. While Webster County’s offense stayed consistent in the second with seven of its 12 points coming from Price, Daviess County didn’t have the same luck.

The Lady Panthers were silenced offensively in the second, being held scoreless in the quarter as they went into halftime trailing 25-12.

Determined to cut its deficit to single digits, Daviess County came out of the locker room firing. The Lady Panthers tallied 16 points for their strongest quarter of the night, but Price’s nine points kept the Lady Trojans out in front 36-28 going into the fourth.

Daviess County kept pushing in the fourth, just barely cracking double digits offensively. But the Lady Panthers comeback efforts were too little too late, as they fell to Webster County 49-39.

Price led all scorers with 24 points on the day, while senior Katie Mewes was the only Daviess County player in double figures with 13 points.

The loss puts the Lady Panthers at 1-1 on the week, as they fall to 13-9 going into a district matchup with Owensboro Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
