After a successful career with the Lady Panthers, standout goalie Emma Patterson has signed to continue her soccer career at Hanover College.
Patterson is coming off a season in which she made 161 saves and allowed 40 goals in 21 games. She averaged 7.7 saves per game and earned four shutouts on the year.
After a long recruiting process, the former Lady Panther was thrilled to sign the dotted line and take the next step in her athletic career.
“I feel relieved knowing where I am going to be attending college next year,” Patterson said. “I am ready for the next chapter of my life and I am extremely excited.”
Patterson said that Hanover’s coaching staff made her a priority in recruiting and she took note of their love for the game of soccer and wanting to win.
“The Hanover Women’s Soccer program stood out to me at first because of the head coach, James Watts,” Patterson said. “During our first interaction, I could feel his passion for the sport, his commitment to the team and his competitive nature as Hanover is very successful with a winning program.”
With further interaction, Patterson said she enjoyed getting to know some of the players and quickly realized they are close on and off the field and like playing for Coach Watts. All of these factors were big factors in helping her decide that Hanover College was the right fit for me.
On top of the player-coach relationship she witnessed first hand, Patterson chose Hanover because of the feel of the campus and how the school invests in its students.
“I chose Hanover after looking at many different colleges because it is where I felt most at home and welcomed by the soccer team,” Patterson said. “I love the location, atmosphere, people and the opportunities the college offers. While visiting Hanover, you could feel the strong relationships between students and staff, players and coaches and I saw examples of how the college truly invests in your success.”
Patterson is currently undecided on a major and is looking forward to pursuing her options, potentially in education or communication.
The Lady Panthers will miss Patterson in net and she will miss it as well, saying that she will always cherish her time at Daviess County and is thankful for all that have helped her reach new heights in soccer.
“I will miss the friendships developed at Daviess County, over the last four years of soccer and classes,” Patterson said. “I want to thank all the players and coaches that helped me get the opportunity to play in college.”
