Panther women post multiple firsts at DePauw Invitational

Competing in their second event of the season, Head Coach Sol Stephens and the Kentucky Wesleyan Women’s Track team placed second out of 10 teams at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday. They finished with a total of 93 points, second only to host DePauw who tallied 155.5 points. 

Freshman Abigail Lesniak showed out in the 3000 meter run, crossing the finish line first with a time of 11:12.97. Karlee Hoffman and Sidney Reagor finished 1-2 respectively in the 5000 meters, coming in with very impressive times of 19:34.50 and 20:12.58. Kate Keller picked up another first place finish with a 1:48.97 in the 600 meter run. Not to be outdone by her track counterparts, Hailey Miller took first in the high jump with a leap of 1.55m (5’1″). 

Sarah Vanderhoof came in second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.29, while fellow junior Emory Crume crossed the line at 3:24.71 to finish runner-up in the 1000 meters. Jenna Burns turned in a very impressive 1:02.04 in the 400 to place second, and Yogi McKnight took third in the long jump with a leap of 4.97m (16’4″). 

The KWC women will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 19 when they head to Terre Haute, Ind. for the ISU Open.
