After falling to the Lady Bears on Friday, Jan. 28, Butler County had the Trinity’s number again on Monday, narrowly defeating them 49-45.

The trio of senior Cassidy Morris (six), junior Josie Aull (four) and freshman Kenzie McDowell (four) got the Lady Raiders off to a strong start, scoring all of their points en route to a 14-10 lead after the first.

Trinity’s offensive success didn’t carry over into the second quarter, as they were limited to single digits. Meanwhile, Gracie Cordwell scored six of the Lady Bears 14 points as they took a 24-21 lead into halftime.

Butler County continued to thrive on both ends of the floor in the third, holding the Lady Raiders to single digits once again as their lead expanded to 36-29 going into the fourth.

Using a balanced offensive attack to rattle off 16 points, Trinity did all it could to pull off a comeback win. However, they weren’t able to halt the Lady Bears offensive momentum in the fourth and ultimately lost 49-45.

Butler County had four players finish in double figures, while Morris and Aull led Trinity with 16 and 11 points respectively.

The Lady Raiders fall to 8-8 overall with the loss, as they have a few days off before they return to the hardwood against Edmonson County at 6 p.m. on Friday.
