The E-gals and Lady Aces were able to celebrate their senior nights with wins on Tuesday, while the Lady Raiders lost its second straight game on the road.

Apollo vs. Muhlenberg County

The E-gals celebrated senior night the right way, as the senior guard duo of Shelbie Beatty and Amaya Curry combined for 41 points en route to a 74-47 win over Muhlenberg County.

Apollo wasted no time getting going offensively in the first quarter, as Curry (seven) and Beatty (six) combined for 13 of the team’s 18 points. Meanwhile, Brooklyn Stewart was keeping the Lady Mustangs in the game, scoring all 11 of their points as they went into the second down 18-11.

Muhlenberg County tried to slice its deficit to shreds in the second quarter by getting nine of their 13 points from beyond the arc, but Apollo didn’t slow down offensively and went into the second half owning a 36-24 lead.

After nearly claiming a 20-point lead heading into the fourth, the E-gals didn’t take their foot off the gas. Apollo exploded for 22 points in the final quarter, as Beatty hit a trio of triples to help seal the deal on a 74-47 win over the Lady Mustangs.

Curry led all scorers with 21, while Beatty followed closely with 20 points and eighth grader Kennedy Lane chipped in 10 points on the night.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak for Apollo, as they improve to 13-12 going into their final district matchup of the season with Daviess County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Christian County

Able to outscore the Lady Colonels in every quarter, Owensboro Catholic’s offensive prowess helped them get out to a 55-48 win on senior night.

Both teams got off to a slow start in the first quarter, with the lone three in the quarter from junior Katie Riney being the difference as the Lady Aces took a 9-6 lead.

Lighting it up from deep with four threes from beyond the arc, Owensboro Catholic’s offense went off for 18 points in the second. However, Mikayah Killebrew kept Christian County in it, rattling off 11 points as they went into halftime trailing 27-23.

The Lady Aces remained consistent on both ends in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Colonels once again to take a 41-36 lead into the fourth.

Freshman Karmin Riley led the charge in the fourth for Owensboro Catholic, hitting a pair of threes as she tallied eight of the team’s 14 points. Holding Christian County to 12 points, the Lady Aces were able to put a bow on a 55-48 victory.

Riley led Owensboro Catholic with 15 points on the night, while sophomore Hailee Johnson finished with 11 points and Riney followed with 10.

The Lady Aces winning streak extends to three games as they improve to 21-7 overall and will look to close out the regular season 6-0 in district play with a win against Owensboro at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Trinity (Whitesville) vs. Union County

The Lady Raiders struggles continued on Tuesday, as their offense faltered in their third straight loss at the hands of Union County 71-47.

The Bravettes got right to work offensively in the first quarter, rattling off 18 points while limiting Trinity to single digits to take an 18-7.

Senior Cassidy Morris led the Lady Raiders with eight points in the second quarter, but despite her best efforts Trinity wasn’t able to make up any ground. Her teammates were held scoreless as Union County exploded for 21 points to take a 39-15 halftime lead.

It was much of the same for the Lady Raiders in the second half, as they had no answer for the Bravettes defensively. Despite matching Union County with 32 points in the second half, its first half woes were too much for Trinity to overcome in a 71-47 loss.

Morris led all scorers with 25 points on the night to go with eight rebounds, while junior Josie Aull was the only other player in double figures with 11 points.

The loss has the Lady Raiders falling to 8-10 overall on the season, as they will have few days off before their third straight road game against Grayson County at 6 p.m. on Friday.
