The Lady Aces and the E-gals were unable to muster up enough offense in their respective losses on Monday, while the Lady Raiders added another one to their winning streak on Monday.

Apollo vs. Breckinridge County

A rough first half defensively was a key factor in a 47-42 home loss to Breckinridge County on Monday, as the E-gals offense didn’t get enough offense from its supporting cast.

Apollo got off to a slow start offensively, as senior Shelbie Beatty tallied seven of the team’s 11 points. Meanwhile, Sydney Tucker (seven) and Isabel Grimes (five) had sparked the Lady Tigers offense, combining to outscore the E-gals themselves en route to a 16-12 lead.

Breckinridge County’s offense slowed down a bit in the second, but Apollo was held to just eight points and went into halftime trailing 28-19.

Apollo was determined to forge a comeback coming out of the locker room. The E-gals were able to limit the Lady Tigers to single digits in the third, as Apollo broke double digits and cut its deficit going into the fourth to 33-28.

The E-gals were able to score 13 points with six coming from Beatty in the quarter, but Tucker and Breckinridge County would not be denied the road victory. Tucker rattled off eight of the Lady Tigers 14 points in the fourth, helping shut the door on a 47-42 win over Apollo.

Tucker finished with 16 points on the night, while Grimes chipped in 13 and Caroline Lucas also finished in double figures with 11 points.

Beatty led all scorers with 18 points, while senior Amaya Curry was the only other E-gal to score more than eight points with 12 on the night.

Back-to-back losses have Apollo sitting at 13-14 overall, as they will close out the regular season with a road matchup against Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Henderson County

The Lady Aces couldn’t slow down Henderson County’s offense on Monday, as they suffered their second straight loss at a score of 59-46.

The Lady Colonels jumped out to an early lead following the first, as they were able to limit Owensboro Catholic to single digits and go up 12-9.

The Lady Aces were able to crack double digits in the second, but Graci Risley (seven) and Jarie Thomas (six) combined for 13 points. This helped Henderson County’s lead expand to 29-20 at halftime.

Owensboro Catholic continued to try and close the gap in the third by scoring 11 points, but they couldn’t slow down the Lady Colonels and went into the fourth trailing 43-31.

Sophomore Hailee Johnson (seven) and freshman Karmin Riley (six) tried to help the Lady Aces earn a comeback win by combining for 13 of the team’s 15 points in the fourth. However, Henderson County’s offense didn’t skip a beat, securing a 59-46 home win.

Risley led all scorers with 24 points, while Kaytlan Kemp finished with 14 points and Thomas chipped in 12 points on the night.

Johnson was the only player to score more than nine points for Owensboro Catholic, finishing with 15 points to lead the way.

Back-to-back losses move the Lady Aces to 22-9 overall, as they will close the regular season out with a road matchup with Breckinridge County at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Trinity vs. Edmonson County

A strong fourth quarter for the Lady Raiders was the difference on Friday, as they limited Edmonson County to one basket and closed the door on a 34-25 win.

Senior Cassidy Morris (four) helped Trinity jump out to an early lead following the first quarter, scoring half of the team’s points en route to a 9-7 lead.

Morris didn’t let up in the second quarter, scoring five of the Lady Raiders’ seven. However, the Lady Cats rattled off a trio of threes to cut their deficit to 16-15 by halftime.

Edmonson County didn’t slow down in the third quarter, outscoring Trinity 7-6 to knot things up at 22-22 going into the fourth. However, the Lady Raiders flipped a switch in the final quarter.

Trinity was able to limit Edmonson County to just three points in the fourth, while senior Kat Hibbitt led the Lady Raiders offense to its best quarter of the night. Hibbit registered seven points of their 12, helping secure the 34-25 win.

Morris led all scorers with 14 points, but was the only other player in double figures as Hibitt scored all seven of her points in the fourth.

Trinity is catching fire at the right time, riding a three-game winning streak that has them sitting at 11-10 overall going into a home matchup with Hancock County at 6 p.m. on Friday.
