After playing all four sports throughout his high school career with the Eagles, Harrison Bowman couldn’t choose just one and has signed to play baseball and football at Missouri Western.

“It’s honestly a surreal feeling, something I always dreamed about but never knew how it would truly feel. It’s a huge relief and definitely some massive weight off my shoulders,” Bowman said.

While majoring in business, Bowman will be able to continue his days in the outfield and as a kicker with the Griffons. The Apollo standout said he was made a priority in the recruiting process by the coaching staff and is excited to be able to utilize top of the line facilities to grow as an athlete.

“I chose Missouri Western because of the amount of love and support the coaches showed me,” Bowman said. “They made me feel a part of the family and made the place feel like home. They extended me a great offer that allowed me to play both sports and that is something that I really sought after through the recruiting process. Also their facilities are top notch even when put up against the multiple big schools that I visited throughout the process if not being better than those schools. And overall it felt as if this place would give me the best chance to develop and reach my full potential in life.”

On top of the relationship that he has built with the staff at Missouri Western, the talent that has been within the programs has stood out to Bowman as well.

“What stood out the most about the program and coaches is probably the rich history that they have of putting players at the next level after college,” Bowman said. “Current Cowboys kicker Greg Zurlein actually played in college for Missouri Western. Also the amount of love the coaches showed me throughout the entire process really just stood out to me and went a long way with me.”

On top of the professional ties with Zuerlein, Bowman will get to work in the same space as another NFL team nearby.

“The facilities also being by far some of the best around doesn’t hurt either. Another pretty cool thing about this place is the fact that they actually host the Kansas City Chiefs training camp so while being there I’ll be sharing the facilities with the entire Chiefs roster.”

Bowman is coming off of a junior season for baseball in which he hit .387, had 16 RBIs and stole 35 bases en route to breaking the single-season record for swiping bases.

On the gridiron Bowman closed out his senior season by going 29-30 on extra points, while going 2-6 on field goal attempts in 11 games.

Having been a part of numerous teams throughout his team with the Eagles, while Bowman is ready for the next step, he will miss all the time and memories he’s shared with his teammates and coaches.

“I am going to miss just the bond and brotherhood that I had with each of my teammates at Apollo,” Bowman said. “But overall I am truly going to miss playing each of my sports. I truly enjoyed being able to play four sports throughout high school. The relationships and moments I had with each of my brothers and coaches will live in me forever.”
