Led by sophomore Jenna Dant’s near 30-point performance despite not playing the fourth, the E-gals offense was firing on all cylinders en route to an 85-36 win over Evansville Bosse on Monday.
Apollo opened up play with prolific defensive prowess, holding Evansville Bosse to two points in the first. Their offense did not fall short either, helping the E-gals jump out to a 22-2 lead.
Apollo didn’t skip a beat in the second, with the help of Dant rattling off 12 points.
While Evansville Bosse bounced back in the second with 14 points, the E-gals easily outscored them and walked into halftime owning a dominant 44-16 lead.
Dant continued her impressive performance with 10 points in the third, helping Apollo reach 28 points. Scoring 20-plus points for the third straight quarter, the E-gals went into the fourth leading 72-26.
Apollo had its weakest quarter offensively in the fourth, but the E-gals insurmountable lead pushed them past Evansville Bosse for an impressive 85-36 victory.
Dant led all scorers with 29 points and 10 rebounds on the day, while seniors Amaya Curry and Shelbie Beatty both finished with 14 points each.
The win is the E-gals third straight (9-8, as they now turn their attention to a district matchup and rematch with Owensboro Catholic on the road at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
