A monster fourth quarter from freshman Lily Hoagland helped the Lady Panthers pull off a 57-53 comeback win over Christian County on Tuesday.
Despite eight points from junior Adylan Ayer to open up play for Daviess County, its offense didn’t thrive in the first and went into the second quarter trailing 17-12.
After having a balanced attack in the first, the Lady Colonels’ success offensively didn’t carry over and the Lady Panthers took advantage and tied things up at 23-23 going into halftime.
Christian County bounced back in the third quarter, in large part thanks to nine points from eighth grader Anaysia Bagwell. Limiting Daviess County to single digits in the quarter, the Lady Colonels’ found themselves in charge 36-31 going into the fourth.
With the Lady Panthers’ back against the wall Hoagland stepped up in a big way, grabbing 14 points in the quarter with 10 coming at the charity stripe. Getting plenty of help from her teammates, Daviess County was able to score 26 points in the fourth to come away with a 57-53 win.
Ayer led the Lady Panthers with 23 points on the night, while Hoagland followed close behind with 16 points thanks to her clutch play.
With back-to-back wins under its belt, Daviess County now sits at 11-5 overall and will have a day off before a matchup with Breckinridge County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
