Trinity sweeps way to 12th District Championship

The Lady Raiders were dominant in all facets of the game Tuesday, sweeping Grayson County to grab the 12th District Championship (26-24, 25-12, 25-13).

Grayson County came out in the first set looking to control the match, sitting up at eight in the first set. However, Trinity made an incredible comeback to force an extra point and won the set 26-24 to go up 1-0.

This completely took the wind out of Grayson County’s sails, as the Lady Raiders swung momentum its way with a dominant performance in the second set. Trinity won the set by double digits, going up 2-0 with a 25-12 win.

Grayson County suffered a similar defeat in the third set, as the Lady Raiders stayed hot in the third set and won 25-13 to secure the 3-0 sweep and the 12th District Championship.

Senior Cassidy Morris and sophomore Hannah Nash led the way offensively with 15 and 12 kills respectively, while sophomore Georgia Howard also chipped in six kills.

Junior Josie Aull set up her teammates all night long, constantly placing the ball perfectly and recording a total of 35 assists.

Aull also led the way defensively with 19 digs, while Howard finished with 15 and senior Taylor Pedley also finished with 15.

The Lady Raiders now sit at 25-5 overall and have earned the title of 12th District Champions. Now they will have their eyes on a 3rd Region Championship as they are riding a two-game winning streak.
