Lady Aces dominate against Hancock County

After a short break following the Quad State Tournament, Owensboro Catholic volleyball grabbed a dominant three-set sweep over Hancock County (25-9, 25-7, 25-15).

The Lady Aces were fresh and ready to play in the first set, taking control of the match early with a 25-9 win.

Determined to keep momentum on its side, Owensboro Catholic stayed hot in the second set with a 25-7 win.

Hancock County fought to stay alive in the third set, but they weren’t able to stifle the Lady Aces and fell by double digits for the third straight set, 25-15.

Senior Cate Sights led the way offensively, recording 14 kills on the night, while fellow senior Hadley Latham wasn’t far behind with eight kills on the night.

It was the dynamic duo of sophomore Kennedy Murphy (19) and junior Paige Miles (13) setting up the offense all night, combining for 32 assists.

The Lady Aces also excelled serving against Hancock County, recording 17 aces in the match. Meanwhile, junior Emily Christian led the way defensively, covering the floor well with 21 digs.

Owensboro Catholic now sits at 22-8 on the season and will look to make it two straight when they take on Logan County at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
