Owensboro Catholic girls soccer walked away with a win to close out the regular season, while Owensboro suffered a tough loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday night.
Owensboro Catholic vs. Henderson County
The Lady Aces were led by junior Maddie Hayden, helping the offense find success repeatedly en route to a 3-0 win over the Lady Colonels.
Hayden led the team with a pair of goals on the night, while junior Ella Claire Goetz scored the remaining goal for Owensboro Catholic.
Sophomore keeper Abby Payne added to her strong resume this season, recording her 10th shutout of the season and Owensboro Catholic’s 11th.
The win moves the Lady Aces to 15-5 overall on the season, as they will prepare for district play starting Monday.
Owensboro vs. Madisonville-North Hopkins
The Lady Devils couldn’t stop the high-powered Madisonville-North Hopkins offense on Thursday night, falling 7-1.
Sophomore Sydney Lovett added to her impressive campaign offensively, scoring the lone goal for Owensboro.
Junior keeper Chandler Worth put forth a valiant effort in goal trying to thwart Madisonville-North Hopkins, making 17 saves on the night.
Owensboro now sits at 9-7 overall on the season as they will prepare for district play that begins on Monday.
