Owensboro Catholic expanded its winning streak to four games on Friday night, defeating McLean County 46-0.

Owensboro Catholic was first to get on the board, taking a 7-0 lead thanks to a 20-yard touchdown pass from freshman Brady Atwell to senior Braden Mundy.

It wasn’t until the second quarter that the Aces were able to find the endzone again, as a 15-yard run from Atwell made it 14-0 with 10:36 left in the half.

Owensboro Catholic’s defense continued to hold McLean County scoreless throughout the half, taking advantage offensively again as well.

Atwell hit Mundy again with 3:33 left in the second quarter, this time for a 19-yard touchdown to give them a 26-0 lead going into halftime.

Sophomore Hunter Monroe got in on the action to open up the third quarter, as he took a handoff 40 yards to the house to take a 34-0 lead with 9:05 left in the quarter.

They kept the scoring going in the third quarter minutes later, as Mundy got another touchdown pass from Atwell for 15 yards and a 40-0 lead with 7:18 to go in the quarter.

Atwell continued his strong day in the fourth quarter, putting the Aces on the board one last time. He connected with senior Everett Munsey for a 27-yard touchdown, taking a 46-0 lead with 6:25 left to play.

With their defense blanking McLean County, this was more than enough for Owensboro Catholic to grab a nice road victory.

Atwell was dominant filling in for senior Lincoln Clancy, throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for one. Mundy was his primary target all night, finishing the game with a trio of touchdowns.

The Aces’ defense put on a clinic by shutting out McLean County, this game marking their third shutout of the season.

Owensboro Catholic now sits at 4-5 overall on the season and will look to move to .500 in its regular season finale on the road against Elizabethtown at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29.
