Owensboro Catholic football is looking to keep rolling and its third straight district win when they take on Butler County on Friday.

The Aces are coming off of a strong win against Todd County Central, in which they won 36-0 because of dominant play on both sides of the ball.

Senior quarterback Lincoln Clancy thrived last week, throwing for 285 yards on 11-17 passing to go along with two touchdowns.

Senior Braden Mundy was the primary target for Clancy, earning 127 receiving yards and a touchdown on four receptions. Mundy also ran for 27 yards and earned two rushing touchdowns on three carries as well.

Sophomore William Carrico followed closely behind, earning 97 yards and a touchdown on two receptions.

Head Coach Jason Morris said after the game that Clancy being completely healthy and being able to make throws all over the field has elevated the Aces offense.

Mundy’s capability to make an impact at multiple positions also is something that has helped them be so efficient.

Owensboro Catholic also hasn’t allowed any points in its last two matchups, as their defensive line’s steady improvement has helped them jump out to a 2-0 record in district play.

The Aces will be taking on a Butler County team that is coming off of a tough overtime loss to Hancock County.

Butler County sits at 4-2 on the season and is powered by its dual threat senior quarterback Jagger Henderson.

The man under center throws for about 112 passing yards and a touchdown per game, while also rushing for 47 yards a game and a rushing touchdown.

In each of their wins the Bears have relied heavily on their defense as well, holding opponents to 20 points or less.

For Owensboro Catholic to stay undefeated in district play, they will have to limit Henderson and Clancy will have to lead the Aces to an efficient day offensively.

Owensboro Catholic will look to move to 3-5 overall on the season when they host Butler County at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Owensboro Times reached out to Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Jason Morris, but he didn’t respond as of press time.
