Sophomore Lauren Leigh helped Apollo to a shutout victory on the road while Owensboro suffered a road loss to Henderson County.
Apollo vs. Warren Central
The E-gals bounced back from a tough loss to Owensboro Catholic by defeating Warren Central 2-0 on the road.
Freshman Kara Green helped Apollo offensively with her first goal of the season, while sophomore Alana Rone picked up her first goal of the season to give them a 2-0 lead.
Head Coach Dave Woeste said that his defense’s effort was strong against the Dragons, with junior Aleia Henderson, junior Eh Moo, freshman Eh Say and senior Libby Biggs all contributing.
This also marked Leigh’s first career varsity shutout, helping the E-gals get out to the 2-0 road victory. Apollo now sits at 2-5 overall and will be tasked with hosting Owensboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Owensboro vs. Henderson County
Junior keeper Chandler Worth had 17 saves on the night, but that wasn’t enough to stop the Colonels’ offense, falling 4-2.
Sophomore Sydney Lovett and senior Abby Beck provided the lone goals for the Lady Devils, while senior Ella Bratcher had the lone assist.
The Lady Devils now sit at 4-3 overall and will hit the road for its next matchup as well, taking on Apollo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
