Apollo boys soccer had a dominant offensive performance at home, while Owensboro and Daviess County’s games ended in a tie.
Apollo vs. Grayson County
The Eagles offense could not be stopped on Thursday, as they blanked Grayson County 6-0 in front of their home crowd.
Apollo didn’t take long to get things started, as junior Dah Hai scored on an assist from senior Ko Htoo to make it a 1-0 game.
Junior Hunter Dickerson scored off of a cross from senior Harrison Bowman later, as the Eagles extended their lead to 2-0 going into the second half.
In the second half, the flood gates opened and Apollo found the back of the net four times to come away with a 6-0 win.
Harrison Bowman scored to start the second half, while junior Carter Copzynski, junior Long Berly and junior Hsa Than followed.
Htoo had another assist in the second half to make it two assists in the game, while seniors Houston Collins and Nee Kpaw both had assists as well.
The win moves Apollo to 9-6-1 overall on the season, while they will look to extend its winning streak to three games when they hit the road to take on North Hardin at noon on Saturday.
Owensboro vs. Madisonville-North Hopkins
The Red Devils and Madisonville-North Hopkins went blow for blow offensively, but neither could convert on a game-winning goal as the match ended in a 2-2 tie.
Owensboro got both of its goals in the second half, as senior Saw Thaw scored in the 51st minute on an assist from sophomore Sang Thang. Thang dished out another assist in the 69th minute to sophomore Peter Saang to tie things up at 2-2.
The Red Devils rattled off 16 shots with three on goal, while Madisonville-North Hopkins took 12 shots with six on goal.
Despite the ample opportunities for both offenses, neither could find the back of the net again and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Owensboro now sits at 6-8-1 overall on the season and will look to bounce back when they host Hopkins County Central at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Daviess County vs. Warren Central
The Panthers and Warren Central both were able to find the back of the nets three times each, but neither could for a fourth time, ending the game in a 3-3 tie.
The Dragons got on the board first, as they took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. However, Daviess County quickly responded with a goal from junior Sean Higgs to tie things up at 1-1 in the 13th minute.
After that goal, the game went into a bit of a stalemate as it was tied at 1-1 until the 56th minute of play. That was when the Panthers struck, as junior Nate Bailey scored to make it a 2-1 game.
With Daviess County trying to cling onto their lead, the final 10 minutes of play was a frenzy full of offense.
The Dragons scored in the 71st minute, knotting things up at 2-2. However, Daviess County reclaimed the lead with a goal from junior Dax Sandifer in the 78th minute.
Up 3-2 with the game seemingly coming to a close, Warren Central refused to end the game with a loss and found the back of the net a minute later to knot things up at 3-3 right before time expired.
The tie moves the Panthers to 12-1-3 overall on the season, as they will shift their focus to the Bruin Classic with games against Ballard at 9 a.m. and Corbin at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
