Girls soccer recaps (Aug. 19): OHS, OCHS

Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic girls soccer took to the pitch Thursday, with the Lady Devils earning a massive win, while the Lady Aces suffered their first loss of the season.

Owensboro vs. Grayson County

Owensoboro grabbed its second win of the season in dominant fashion, defeating Grayson County 10-0.

Sophomore Sydney Lovett led the way offensively for the Lady Devils, scoring four goals while dishing out two assists.

Senior Ella Bratcher had a pair of goals and seniors Natalie LaMar, Maddie Clouse, Evie Pierson and JaNyaih Wimberly each netted a goal.

Senior Abby Warren had two assists, while Clouse, LaMar, Pierson, senior Abby Beck and junior Rena Sexton all had one assist.

Chandler Worth also held her own at goal, grabbing one save and earning her second straight shutout.

Owensboro now sits at 2-1 on the young season and will return to action when they host Owensboro Catholic at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Evansville Mater Dei

Owensboro Catholic hit the road to take on a tough opponent in Evansville Mater Dei, but fell short and suffered its first loss of the season at a score of 2-0.

The Lady Aces had some decent scoring opportunities during the game, but were unable to convert. 

The loss puts them at 4-1 overall, now looking to bounce back this weekend when they take on Christian County at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
