Cross Country recap (Aug. 17): DCHS, OHS, AHS, THS

Daviess County boys and girls cross country teams had successful days at the Kentucky/Indiana Border Clash on Tuesday.

Competing with a number of teams across the Commonwealth and the neighboring state of Indiana, the Lady Panthers were able to grab second place overall while the Panthers grabbed third.

The Lady Panthers snagged second place by posting a time of 1:45:07.02, with an average time of 21:01:41.

Four Lady Panthers finished in the top-10 on the day. Lucy Spaw led the way with a second place finish (19:35.10), while Kayley Payne grabbed eighth, Micah Sagar grabbed ninth and Sally Tidwell finished tenth.

The Panthers had one top-ten finish in Bryson McGary, finishing with a time of 17:12.02, while Justin Shelton (13), Caleb Tidwell (25), Zach McCaslin (33), Brody Holbrook (40), Jack Hamilton (44) and Brayden Kaelin (46) all followed suit with top-50 finishes.

Local schools such as Apollo, Owensboro, Trinity (Whitesville) competed as well. For the boys cross country teams Thomas Ashby was Apollo’s leading runner by placing 12th with a time of 17:15.90.

Jacob Howard of Trinity and Adrian Askin of Owensboro were close behind, finishing 18th (17:42.21) and 19th (17:45.09) respectively. 

For the girls cross country teams, Ahmira Pickett was Apollo’s leading runner placing 30th (23:59.60), Addison Edge placed 62nd (26:24.38) for Owensboro and Natalie Rhinerson placed 105th (31:48.57).
