Owensboro 16, McLean County 11

Owensboro came away with a comeback victory over McLean County in an offensive showcase at Russell Shifley Park.

The Lady Cougars seemed to be well in charge halfway through the game, holding onto a 9-4 lead going into the bottom of the fourth.

However, fielding blunders came back to bite McLean and the Lady Devils took advantage of them, tallying nine runs in the inning.

Owensboro tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth innings as well and held the Lady Cougars scoreless for the last three innings en route to a 16-11 win.

Kamryn McMahon dominated the game offensively, driving in six runs for McLean County.

Meanwhile, Sophie Moorman (2), Morgan Turner (2), Lauren Hughes (2), Kaylyn Sowders (1), Lindsey Gibson (1), Paige Hughes and Abigail Walker all drove in runs for the Lady Devils.

Six players for Owensboro registered multiple hits, with Moorman and Gibson leading the way with three each. Moorman also led the way in runs scored, crossing the plate four times on the day.

The Lady Aces looked to hand South Warren its second loss of the season but fell short in a pitchers duel, 1-0.

After a five-inning scoreless battle, the Lady Spartans were able to bring one across the plate in the top of the fifth, giving the sole RBI of the game to Caroline Pitcock.

This would be all South Warren needed to move to 30-1 on the season, while moving Owensboro Catholic to 19-11.

Owensboro Catholic’s Lexi Hatchett and the Lady Spartans’ Emily Reynolds put on a show in the circle. Hatchett tossed six innings allowing three hits and one earned run, while striking four.

Meanwhile, Reynolds had the Lady Aces number, striking out 12 and getting all but the final out of the game.

Camille Conkright led Catholic at the plate as she went 2-4.

Breckinridge County 13, Trinity 4

Trinity fell to Breckenridge County after a late 10-run offensive explosion from the Lady Tigers.

The two teams battled back and forth all game long, going into the final inning tied at 4-4 after Breckenridge brought one across the plate in the top of the sixth.

However, in the top of the seventh, the Lady Tigers bats came alive and brought in seven earned runs off of Lexy Edge and nine total in the inning.

This offensive outburst paired with some fielding miscues was more than enough to take the wind out of the Lady Raiders sails, as they fell to Breckenridge 13-4.

Macie Aguilar (2-4, R), Georgia Howard (2-4, RBI) and Katherine Hibbitt (1-2, RBI, R) led the way for THS.

Trinity hosts Owensboro Thursday in their regular-season finale.
