Former Kentucky Wesleyan College pitcher, Devin Smith made his Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft League debut on Wednesday for the Williamsport Crosscutters against Trenton Thunder.
Smith finished his Panther career as it begin, with a win. Smith pitched a complete game, 3-1 win over Tiffin in the quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Conference Championship. Smith allowed one runs on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
In his career, which begin in 2019, Smith has complied a 14-2 record with a slim 2.81 ERA. In 25 starts, Smith has four complete games with two shutouts. Smith has 147.1 innings of work with 175 strikeouts against 50 walks in his career.
In 2019 Smith was named Great Midwest Pitcher of the Year. In that same season he also garnered First Team All-Conference, D2CCA All-Region, ABCA All-Region, and NCBWA All-American Honors. In addition to Smith’s awards on the field, he earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All American honors.
The new MLB Draft League featuring draft-eligible players from across the United States projected as premium selections in the MLB Draft. The league will be run by Major League Baseball and their partner Prep Baseball Report. Players and coaching staffs are assigned to teams in the MLB Draft League by Major League Baseball and Prep Baseball Report. Rosters will consist of the top draft-eligible players from across the United States.
