Catholic cruises by Butler County in final regular-season game

The Owensboro Catholic Aces made short work of Butler County Thursday as they cruised by the Bears 16-1 in three innings.

Catholic went up 3-0 after the first and after three more runs in the second, ended the game with 10 runs in the bottom of the final frame.

Sam McFarland earned the win as he went two innings and struck out two while allowing one hit and no earned runs. E Munsey threw a scoreless third and struck out two.

Luke Evans (2-2, 2B, 2 RBI, 4 R) and E Munsey (2-2, 4 RBI, 2 R) each had multiple hits for the Aces while McFarland (4 runs), Finley Munsey (2 runs), Braden Mundy (2 RBIs), Hunter Small (3 RBIs) and Jamison Wall (2 RBIs) also contributed at the plate in the win.

Catholic plays at 3 p.m. Saturday against Owensboro at Shifley Park in the first round of the 9th District Tournament.
