• E-Gals keep rolling with home win

• Maddox leads Eagles past Mater Dei

SOFTBALL RECAP
Apollo 6, South Warren 1
The E-Gals (12-10) continued their hot streak by beating the Spartans (16-11) for Apollo’s fifth  win in a row. South Warren scored an unearned run in the first inning before the E-Gals got one each in the second and third, then plated four more in the fourth.

Madison Shemwell, Lauren Whitehouse and Hallie Wilson each had two hits, a run and an RBI. Maidson Julian had two hits and drove in two.

Julian also earned the win, giving up an unearned run on five hits through 6.0 innings.

BASEBALL RECAPS
Apollo 3, Evansville Mater Dei 1
Josh Maddox needed only 74 pitches in a complete game on the mound to lead the Eagles (14-12) to a home victory over Mater Dei. Maddox allowed a single run on three hits with four strikeouts and a lone walk.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, Apollo plated all three of their runs in the bottom of the frame. Maddox led off with a triple and scored on a hit by Tanner Klee, who crossed the plate on a double by Harrison Bowman. Bowman added a run on a passed ball.

Heritage Hills 5, Daviess County 0
The Panthers (9-17) had a tough day on the road in a loss at Heritage Hills. Daviess County fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and was never able to close the gap.

Garrett Small collected two of the team’s five hits, and Ryan Beckwith had a double. Hunter Payne took the loss, giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
