Kentucky Wesleyan College Director of Athletics Rob Mallory has been selected to the NCAA Division II Football Committee. Mallory’s appointment will begin immediately and run through August 2022.
The Division II Football Committee consists of eight members, two from each of the four Super Regions. Mallory will represent Super Region 1, which consists of 46 schools from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Northeast 10 Conference, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and Mountain East Conference.
“Committee service is essential to the operation of Division II athletics,” Mallory said. “I am honored to be selected to serve on the National Football Committee and represent the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and Super Region 1. I look forward to working with NCAA staff and my fellow committee members to continue the growth and advancement of football at the Division II level.”
This will mark Mallory’s third NCAA committee appointment since 2012 and first at the national level. He previously served on the Division II Football Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) from 2012 to 2014. He is currently a member of the Division II Baseball RAC, a position held since 2017 that will conclude this spring.
“I commend the NCAA Nominating Committee on Rob’s appointment to the Football Committee,” said G-MAC Tom Daeger. “He brings a wealth of RAC experience to the role and will be a valued contributor to the committee. I am pleased to see he was selected and I am confident he will do great work in governing Division II football these next three and a half years.”
The NCAA has divided all Division II football schools into four Super Regions featuring four conferences each based on geography. Each Super Region has an RAC that consists of two representatives from each conference and is chaired by the National Committee members.
Over the course of the final three weeks of the season, the committee will produce a regional ranking of the top 10 teams based on preset criteria. Upon the conclusion of the regular season, the committee will select the top seven teams in each Super Region to participate in the 28-team national tournament.
The 2018 Division II football National Championship will be held Dec. 15 in McKinney, Texas.
