SOFTBALL RECAPS
Daviess County 18, Horace Mann (Wisc.) 3
The Lady Panthers (4-3) used a strong day at the plate for a 17-hit, five-inning home win over Horace Mann.
Though the teams each scored three runs in the third inning, Daviess County scored eight in the second and seventh in the fourth for a big victory. Cameron Hamilton picked up the win.
Sydney Howard went 4-for-4 with a home run and a triple, adding three runs and four RBIs to lead the Lady Panthers at the plate. Millie Roberts (2-for-4, 2 runs) also tripled and had four RBIs.
Abby Newman (3-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBIs, double) and Savanah Northern (3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) also had big days at the plate. Hannah Clark, Kelsey Whistle and Joli Arend all added doubles.

Hancock County 1, Apollo 0
The E-Gals (1-3) finished their four-game road stretch to start the season with a narrow loss to the Lady Hornets (5-2). Apollo outhit Hancock County 5-2, but the lone run in the second inning was all it took for the Lady Hornets to get the win.

BASEBALL RECAPS
Owensboro 18, Henderson County 5
The Red Devils (4-2) earned their fourth win in a row with a strong day at the plate, using 14 hits and three five-run innings to beat the Colonels (3-2) in five innings at home.
Isaac Humphrey hit and inside-the-park home run, had five RBIs, scored once and went 2-for-2 at the plate. Nick Belcher went 3-for-4, scored and had three RBIs, and Kobe Coomes added three RBIs. Tucker Hagan and Braxton French both had a pair of hits and a double each. Hagan scored four times, and French crossed the plate three times.
Trailing 3-1 after the first inning, Henderson County took a lead with three runs in the second. The Devils added five in the bottom half and pulled away the rest of the game. The Colonels scored once more in the fifth. Andrew Chancellor picked up the win, pitching three innings.

South Warren 8, Apollo 3
The Eagles (1-4) had a tough day in the field and finished with six errors in a home loss to the Spartans (6-1), who haven’t lost since their opener.
South Warren used three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Apollo managed to get one back in the bottom of the frame. The Spartans added three more in the sixth and two in the seventh, while the Eagles got a pair of runs in the final inning.
Jakob Helms, Tanner Klee and Demetrio Ortiz each had a hit. Helms added an RBI and Klee also scored. Daylin Crabtree took the loss on the mound, giving up four hits and striking out six through four innings.

Edmonson County 8, Trinity 7
The Raiders (1-4) came up just short, as the Wildcats (5-0) used some late scoring to stay perfect on the season. Trinity outhit Edmonson County 11-7 but had six errors resulting in five unearned runs.
The Wildcats struck first with two runs in the second inning. Four runs by Trinity in the top of the fifth gave them a 6-3 lead, but Edmonson County scored two each in the fifth and sixth frames.
Trinity tied it again in the seventh before the Wildcats scored in the bottom half for the win.
Owen Payne hit a home run, while he, Landon Huff and Briar Roberts each went 2-for-4 with a double a piece. Roberts (3 RBIs) and Payne (2 RBIs) each scored twice.
Huff took the loss on the mound, giving up two hits and three unearned runs while striking out three in two innings. Full stats were not available for Edmonson County.

TENNIS RECAPS
Owensboro 9, Apollo 0 (boys)
The Red Devils had a clean sweep of the Eagles in a dominant showing at the Owensboro Tennis Complex. In addition to two wins by default for Owensboro, they got singles wins from Paul Iracane (def. Stephen Austin), Mitchell Douglas (def. Chris Cox), Grayson McFarland (def. Nathan Payne) and Isaac Nalley (def. Luke Austin).
Doubles winners were Will Clark/McFarland (def. Ryan Ash/Michael Chapman), Douglas/Clayton Rhoads (def. Payne/Cox) and Cameron Thompson/Conner Elliott (def. Stephen Austin/Luke Austin).
Daviess County 5, Hancock County 0 (boys)
The Panthers controlled every match in a sweep of Hancock County at Moreland Park. Singles winners were George Halse, Andy Peeples and Luke McClelland. The doubles team of Dylan McDuffee/Camden Clark also picked up a victory, and the team got one win by default.
Owensboro Catholic 9, Muhlenberg County 0 (girls)
Owensboro Catholic 7, Muhlenberg County 2 (boys)
The girls’ team was dominant and the boys’ were also largely successful as Owensboro Catholic took on Muhlenberg County on the road.
For the girls, singles winners were Emmy Moore, Ashley Fulkerson, Sarah Englert, Olivia Hayden, Reagan Fulkerson and Ella Grace Buckman. The doubles teams of Englert/Ashley Fulkerson, Alyssa Gatten/Hayden and Rachel Traylor/Elizabeth Hayden all got wins.
For the boys, victors included Nick Boarman, Davis Brocato, Ty Gatten, Brett Conder and Cooper Danzer. Also getting wins were the doubles teams of Garrison Danzer/Conder and Ethan Higdon/Gatten.
