BASEBALL RECAPS
Apollo 5, McLean County 3
The Eagles (1-1) used a solid defense and nine hits to earn their first win under head coach Mason Head. They used two-run innings in the fourth and fifth to build a lead and held off a late push for the road victory over the Cougars (1-3).

Dan St. Claire (3-for-4, run, RBI) and Nick Judd (2-for-4, run) led the way for the Apollo offense and each had a double. Evan Hodskins added two RBIs.

Tommy Clark earned the win on the mound after striking out five batters and giving up five hits through four innings. Tanner Klee went 2.1 innings and struck out four.

Trey Bell took the loss for McLean County after giving up seven hits and five runs in four innings of work.

Central Hardin 10, Daviess County 0 (5 innings)
The Panthers (1-2) only manufactured a single hit in a five-inning road loss to the Bruins (4-0). Henderson County scored three in the first inning for an early advantage, then added five unearned runs in the fifth for a comfortable lead.

Cole Troutman recorded the only hit for the Panthers. Bo Stratton took the loss on the mound in an inning of work.

The Bruins got a home run from Jack Bibb, a triple from Carson Yates and a double from Tyler Wood. Caden Alvey went four innings on the mound, striking out five in the win.

RECAPS – SOFTBALL
Marshall County 3, Daviess County 1
A lone run in the sixth inning wasn’t enough for the Lady Panthers (2-1), as the Lady Marshals (2-0) scored three runs in the fourth for a win in the McCracken County Early Bird Tournament. Each team had four errors, and all four runs were unearned.

Daviess County plays two more games in the tournament Saturday.

Hannah Clark drove in Millie Roberts for the only RBI for the Lady Panthers. Clark took the loss, giving up eight hits and striking out four in six innings.

Marshall County’s Gabbi Lovett pitched five innings and picked up the win after giving up four hits and a run.

Madisonville-North Hopkins 10, Apollo 1
The E-Gals (1-2) fell into a 5-0 deficit after one inning and were never able to recover in a road loss to the Lady Maroons (2-0). Apollo scored one run in the top of the third, while Madisonville-North Hopkins added three in the bottom half and two more in the sixth.

Logan County 11, Trinity 4 (5 innings)
Warren East 10, Trinity 0 (5 innings)
The Lady Raiders (0-6) fell behind early in both games during the first day of the Franklin-Simpson County Lady Cat Classic at Buchanon Park. They’ll play two more Saturday to finish the tournament.

TENNIS
Owensboro Catholic 3, South Warren 2 (girls)
St. Xavier 4, Owensboro Catholic 1 (boys)
Both Owensboro Catholic teams were in action at the Greenwood March Madness Tennis Tournament. On the girls’ side, Sarah Kate Young (6-2, 6-1) and Emmy Moore (6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (2)) picked up singles wins. Alyssa Gatten/Olivia Hayden (61-6-2) earned a doubles victory. For the boys, Nick Boarman (6-1, 7-5) got a singles win.


Apollo 4, Allen County-Scottsville 1
The Eagles were largely dominant in a win over the Patriots at Moreland Park. Nathan Payne (8-3) and Luke Austin (8-1) earned singles wins, while Chris Cox/Jude Ford won their doubles match 8-0. Apollo also won a doubles match by forfeit.


Grayson County 6, Owensboro 3 (boys)
Grayson County topped Owensboro 6-3 at the Owensboro Tennis Complex. The Red Devils got three singles wins from Mitchell Douglas (8-4), Grayson McFarland (9-7 and Clayton Rhoads (8-3).
