The Daviess County girls’ basketball team picked up their second win of the season, holding off Trinity for a 55-50 road win on Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers (2-14) hit 11 3-pointers on the night after hitting 10 in a 2-point loss on Monday. Head coach John Kirkpatrick said the long ball has helped them hang close with opponents and give them a chance in recent games.
“That’s ultimately what has allowed us to be competitive,” he said. “We’re also getting it done in other aspects — it’s the second game in a row we’ve had single-digit turnovers. The girls are buying in and putting the extra work in.”
The Lady Raiders (6-7) got in a big hole early but bounced back in the second quarter to take a 28-25 lead at halftime, but they fell behind in the third and couldn’t quite come back, suffering their third loss in a row
Trinity’s Cassidy Morris led all scorers with 16 points, while Kailey Bowers led the Lady Panthers with 13.
Daviess County is off until Monday, when they host Muhlenberg County at 7 p.m.
Trinity will play in the opening round of the 3rd Region All “A” Classic Thursday, staying home to face Edmonson County at 6 p.m.
