Lady Panthers drop home game to Hancock County

The Daviess County girls’ basketball team wasn’t able to hold on to a fourth-quarter lead, falling 55-51 to Hancock County at home Thursday night.

Emma Anderson and Claire Johnson each hit a pair of 3-pointers and combined for 17 points in the first half to send the Lady Panthers (4-17) into the break tied 23-23 with the Lady Hornets (5-15).

Johnson hit two more from deep and Anderson added one of her own as Daviess County took a 42-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Hornets used a couple 3-pointers and eight free throws in the final frame to pull out the late win.

Johnson led the team with 16 points, while Anderson added 15 and Kailey Bowers scored 12.
