Lady Aces win 3rd Region All ‘A’ title; Lady Raiders fall on road

Girls’ basketball: Owensboro Catholic, Trinity

Owensboro Catholic 63, Edmonson County 38
The Lady Aces (12-6) took control from the start in a rout of the Lady Cats (12-7) to win the 3rd Region All “A” Classic championship hosted by Hancock County.

Catholic opened the game with an 11-0 lead and used double-digit scoring from three different players in the win. Mackenzie Keelin led with 16 points, Sarah Beth Clemens had 15 and Hannah McKay scored 14.

The Lady Aces advance to the All “A” State Tournament, where they play Brown and noon on Jan. 23. They’ll play three games before then, though, starting with a 9th District matchup at Apollo at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The Lady Raiders (6-9) came up just short on the road against the Lady Cougars (8-11). No stats were available for the game. Trinity returns to action at 6 p.m. Friday with a road trip to Butler County.
