More than 100 high school bowlers and their families came to Owensboro to participate in the final day of a tournament hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan College, and it featured a perfect game from the boys’ champion.

The 2nd Annual South Central Bank Holiday Showcase held at the Bowladrome wrapped up late Sunday night after a full day of competition, with a pair of bowlers from Tennessee winning the boys’ and girls’ individual events.

The girls kicked off the day around 10 a.m., and in the early afternoon Jenna Hedgepath beat Louisville’s Brianna Logsdon in the final. Natalie Heltne of O’Fallon, Ill., beat Taylor Booth of Louisville in the consolation match.

The boys’ event followed, and champion Jordan Carter — who bowled a perfect 300 in his sixth qualifier game to earn the top spot in the final four — beat Charles Bostic, who traveled all the way from Georgia. In the consolation match, Brent Padgett of Louisville beat Tyler Goodpaster of Georgetown.

Both the girls’ and boys’ events started with everyone bowling four qualifying rounds, and the fields were cut in half based on total pins. Everyone remaining bowled two more games, and their total scores from all six games were combined to determine the final standings.

The top four were paired for the semifinals, followed by the championship and consolation matches.

The top four boys’ and girls’ singles each received scholarship money deposited into their United States Bowling Congress SMART account to use wherever they attend college.

The Showcase was a two-day event this year, starting with team competition on Saturday. Boyle County won the girls’ competition to start the day, and Taylor County’s boys closed out the day with a win. For local team results, click here.
