The Region 3 girls soccer tournament begins today at Meade County with a pair of quarterfinal matches. Two teams got a bye to Tuesday’s semifinal round, and the championship will be Thursday.

Daviess County received a bye, while Owensboro Catholic plays in the second game today. Both teams will try to set up a District 9 rematch as they work their way forward from opposite ends of the bracket.

Check below for the full schedule and information on each team. (There is no District 12 for girls soccer.)

Full Schedule

District 9 champion — Daviess County
Record (Overall, Region, District): 9-5-2, 7-2-0, 6-2-0
Quick hit: The Lady Panthers come off a big win over Owensboro Catholic in the district championship. Daviess County lost two close matches to the Lady Aces in the regular season, and those were the only region losses. With only a single loss in the last four weeks, the Lady Panthers will look to continue their success and advance out of the region.

District 9 runner-up — Owensboro Catholic
Record: 11-6-1, 8-1-1, 7-1-0
Quick hit: The Lady Aces’ lone loss to a region opponent came to Daviess County in the district championship. OCHS struggled to find wins down the stretch in the regular season against a handful of tough opponents. They could face Ohio County — a team they tied in the regular season — in the second round before getting a likely fourth chance at the Lady Panthers again.

District 10 champion — Ohio County
Record: 10-7-2, 7-1-1, 5-0-0
Quick hit: The Lady Eagles put together a strong season and will be the toughest competition for Daviess County and Owensboro Catholic. Ohio County lost 5-4 to the Lady Panthers and tied with the Lady Aces, and would likely have to go through both teams again after getting a bye in the first round.

District 10 runner-up — Muhlenberg County
Record: 15-7-1, 6-3-0, 3-3-0
Quick hit: The Lady Mustangs started hot but had trouble in the final weeks of the regular season. They were shut out 10-0 by Ohio County in the district championship. They’ll face a Meade County team that’s won eight of the last 11 games, posting six shutouts in that span. If they can win, they’ll have to face another strong opponent in Daviess County.

District 11 champion — Meade County
Record: 10-4-3, 5-1-1, 5-0-0
Quick hit: The Lady Waves got a big win in the district championship, and their only loss to a region opponent was a 2-1 decision at Owensboro Catholic. Meade County outscored opponents 90-28 this year, and they’ll try to continue that dominance with a first-round match against Muhlenberg County, who lost 10-0 in their district championship.

District 11 runner-up — Grayson County
Record: 9-11-0, 5-6-0, 4-3-0
Quick hit: The Lady Cougars struggled to score all season and got a tough draw with first-round opponent Owensboro Catholic. Grayson County was shut out in their district championship, and they don’t have a win against any team that made the region tournament.
