Letter to the Editor

In response to the letter to the editor on February 11, 2024 regarding bullying:

Our educators are thoroughly trained to intervene with bullying and potential emotional escalating situations.

The approximate teacher to student ratio in the classroom at College View Middle Schools 15-1. That does not include any extracurricular activities concerning the number of students or supervisors directing activities.

A disrupting and antagonistic thought is why a student of color gets media attention and students with ADHD, Handicapped or socially deficient do not get the same media attention. It just seems a bit prejudiced. In that the media doesn’t report on those situations.

The NAACP was not hesitant to jump in concerning this present situation. Is it really that big of deal, or do parents think there was a social injustice? It is difficult to understand the motive and reasoning behind bringing this issue to the media.

More money from Senate Bills for educating school staff may not be the best intervention. Perhaps those dollars should be used for additional staffing to monitor day and extracurricular activities.
