James Leon “Jim” Laney, 75, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Jim was born September 15, 1943 in Daviess Co., son of the late Louie and Edna Laney.
Jim was a veteran with the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Unit from 1963 until 1968. He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College with a Business Degree. Predominately, his career was spent being an insurance adjustor with the Hartford Insurance Company, which afforded him the opportunity to live in many states, the last being Alaska before returning home. Jim always had a love for animals and enjoyed his retirement feeding the deer and birds on his property, enjoying nature, watching movies, and reading.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Liz Gray, and a brother-in-law, Tom Gray. He leaves behind two sisters, Dale (Nash) Harper and husband Dale and Kathy O’Bryan and husband James. He also leaves behind five brothers, Joseph Laney and wife Lana, Jerry Laney and wife Nance of Arizona, Robert Laney and wife Sandra of Arizona, John Laney and wife Peggy, and Larry Laney and wife Ann, as well as many nieces and nephews.
