
James R. “Jimmy” Griffin, Jr., 66, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born October 26, 1955 in Daviess County to the late James Robert Griffin, Sr. and Anna Purcell Griffin. Jimmy was retired from Colonial Baking Co. after 35 years as a distribution supervisor and had worked for Knott Farms. He was a member of Owensboro Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing, Nascar, watching old Westerns, and was a Pittsburg Steelers fan. Jimmy especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jason Griffin on July 19, 2019.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Debbie Griffin; his daughter, Sandra Griffin (Kevin Murphy) of Owensboro; his daughter-in-law, Kim Griffin of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Brittney Griffin, Shane Daugherty, Haleigh Griffin, and Reece Griffin, all of Owensboro; a brother, Gary (Cheryl) Griffin of Piedmont, South Carolina; four sisters, Dee (Doug) Rish, Kim Griffin (Brian Terry), Cheryl (Bobby) Hall, and Linda Merritt, all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, December 17, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Friendship Church of Christ Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 8 PM Thursday and after 8:30 AM Friday at the funeral home.
