Ada Josephine B. Bigger

December 11, 1922 - August 29, 2018

Ada Josephine B. Bigger, 95, of Owensboro died August 29, 2018. She was born December 11, 1922, in Heber Springs, Arkansas to the late John and Lucille Abbott Bryeans. She was the youngest of five and had a twin sister, Christine. All her siblings preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Bigger, in 1984 and son, Joseph (Joey) Bigger, in 2017.

Mrs. Bigger was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Upper Room Sunday School class. Previously, she was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara B. Barnett (Bill) of Cumming, GA; also other children surviving are: son, David R. Bigger; a daughter, Merle B. Sackett; a daughter Ruth H. Gordon (Mark), all of Owensboro.

Also, surviving are eleven grandchildren: Laura B. Bazemore, Dana N. Jennings, Jason Bigger, Beau Bigger, B.J. Bigger, Blake Bigger, Madison Bigger, Kimberly Sackett, Samuel Gordon, Mary Jo Gordon and Elizabeth Gordon and 17 great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Bigger was a homemaker and volunteer extraordinaire. She served as president of numerous organizations including Homespun Homemakers, Daviess County Homemakers Council and Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History Guild. She also served as President of the Owensboro Symphony Alliance and was membership chairman for many years.

She was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed playing bridge, swimming and traveling. Her family and friends will always remember her love of life and family, and her strong, independent lifestyle.

Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church (UMC) from 1-3 pm on Saturday, September 1, 2018.  A Memorial service will follow immediately at 3 pm, conducted by Pastor Karla Fullwood, Trinity UMC, 2815 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303.
