
GREENVILLE—Lee Roy Moore, 101, of Greenville, KY died April 23, 2025 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. He was born to the late John Haywood Moore and Myrtle Mae Hill Moore. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Corbon ”Doodie” Moore. Lee was born on December 12, 1923 in Wildcat Hollow in Christian County, Kentucky. By age 10 he had moved to 181 South, Greenville where he remained the last 91 years of his life. He married Imojean Francis Gossett on May 27, 1948. They were married for 71 years before her death on May 4, 2019. In 1943 Lee was sent to serve his country in World War II in the South Pacific campaign. He spent three years between Australia, New Guinea, Atopi, Wakde, Biak, and Tokyo, Japan. After returning from the war in January, 1946, he began working as a mechanic for the Greenville Implement Company in Greenville, KY. He later owned and operated Moore’s Tractor and Implement Co. in Greenville, selling International Harvester and New Holland farm equipment until retiring in 1987.
Lee was a member of the North Main Church of Christ where he served as an elder, trustee, and song leader for many years.
Lee is survived by his three children, Terry (Connie) Moore of Madisonville, KY, Susan Moore Brown of Madisonville, KY, Paul (Sally) Moore of Greenville, KY; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Molly) Moore of Nashville, TN, Monica (Jonathan) Wentworth of Nashville, TN, Marc (April) Moore of Bowling Green, KY, Lauren Brown of Madisonville, KY, Logan (Erin) Brown of Lexington, KY; seven great grandchildren, Mason, Mallory, Marjorie, Magnolia, Macy, Logan, and baby Brown; a nephew, Freddie Moore; a niece, Linda Shocklee.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25 at 2:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, with his grandchildren Logan Brown, Marc Moore, Jonathan Moore, and Jonathan Wentworth officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be on Friday, April 25 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral at Gary’s Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Kathy Rhoades and Linda Mohon for the care they have provided for the last few years, and the crew at Hardee’s that were so gracious to listen to Dad’s stories through the years. The help Dad received at OHMCH was very caring during his last days. Dr. Bracken Lewis and the VA provided exceptional care and helped him to reach 101 years. Thank you so much for your love and care.
