William "Bill" Love Hamric

William Love Hamric, 70, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday morning April 19, 2025, at the Heartford House, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, after a battle with Small-Cell Lung Cancer. Bill, or “Bill-Bill” as he was known to his friends, was born on April 3, 1955, in Owensboro, to the late Edward and Dorothy Love Hamric. After graduating from Owensboro High School in 1973, he continued his education at Western Kentucky University and later at the University of Louisville.

A claim to fame included when Bill was the subject of an article by Herb Parker in the Messenger-Inquirer in 1967, after he was diagnosed with Rheumatic Fever; he had missed playing for his team in the Southern Little League that Summer. Bill worked at Texas Gas for 36 years prior to retiring as a Fleet Manager in 2013. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed watching sports, especially as a huge fan of the Ole Miss Rebels. Bill will forever be remembered in our hearts and memories.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hamric; his mother, Dorothy Dickinson; stepfather, Thomas K. Dickinson; and a niece, Nicole Kay of Germantown, TN.

Bill is survived by his brothers, Steve (Janice) Hamric of Katy, Texas and Mike (Suzan) Hamric of Germantown, TN; nieces, Kimberly H. (Kevin) Cole and their children Emmett Michael and Leo Thomas of Madison, MS and Christine Halsey and her daughter Justice of Katy, TX.

A private burial for William Hamric will be in Memorial Park South Woods Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.
