Cecil Lee Newton, 80, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born July 9, 1944 in Daviess County to the late Albert Cecil and Ora Lee Campbell Newton. Cecil was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and retired from teaching at Owensboro Catholic Middle School. He was a very loving and caring person and everyone he met, they became immediate friends. He enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables and playing bingo. Cecil was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Carroll Schoaff and Lillian Myrtle Whitaker.
Cecil is survived by a niece and her husband, Sharon and Angelo Vasquez of Owensboro; three great nephews, Anthony Wayne Vasquez, Christopher Shane Vasquez, and Jerry Evan Vasquez, all of Owensboro; and seven great great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 22, at Elmwood Cemetery with Father Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood.
