Michael Joseph Bogdan

November 5, 1957 - April 14, 2025

Michael Joseph Bogdan, 67, at rest April 14, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital of prostate cancer.  “Mike” was born on November 5, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Alexander and the late Josephine Bogdan (née Jendras).  He was baptized at St. Turibius of Mogrovejo Church in Chicago on December 1, 1957, a day he considered very important.  He studied music and liturgy at the Catholic University of America and various academic institutions.

He worked as a lay minister for the Roman Catholic Church for 46 years.  Though 33 of those years were spent working at the diocesan level under seven bishops, he most loved serving in parishes.  He spent several years working closely with Catholic Worker communities in early adult life.  He was a conscientious objector in the Catholic liturgy wars.

He is survived by his beloved sister Mary Ann (Jeremias “Jerry”) Rojas, his nephews Christopher Alex (Catie) Rojas and Nicholas Michael (Caitlyn) Rojas, his godchildren Christopher Rojas, Elizabeth Kambach and Noah Gutierrez, four really great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues and students.

His body has been donated to science for the purposes of medical research and the harvesting of organs.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any humanitarian cause.

A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
