
Larry Ralph White, a proud veteran and dedicated master electrician, passed away on April 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 26, 1950, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Larry lived a life of dedication, leaving behind a legacy of service, integrity, and strength.
Larry pursued a career as a master electrician, applying precision and passion to every project. He was committed to his career as an engineering and maintenance manager at Commonwealth Aluminum, where he retired after 20 years. Larry served his country with honor in the United States Army Reserves, 100th Division, where he embodied discipline, courage, and loyalty. He served for 26 years and retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Larry also dedicated his time and expertise to many contracted projects after retirement.
Known for his steady hands and sharp mind, Larry was the person you called when something needed fixing—mechanical or otherwise. He believed in hard work, smart thinking, and getting the job done right.
Beyond his accomplishments, he was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and “Pop,” who never missed a chance to offer wisdom, lend a hand, tell a joke, share a story, or talk sports. Larry cared about his community and served in many capacities throughout his life. He served as President of the Lewisport Lions Club, President of the Hancock County Quarterback Club, T-ball and Little League coach, President of the Hancock County Little League, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Opal White; his daughter, Kara Layne White; his sister-in-law, Paula White; and his brother, Lienthal “Len” White.
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline Day White; his son, Chad White (Susan); and his daughter, Kami White. He was exceptionally proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who knew him as “Pop.” Surviving grandchildren are Jonathan Snyder (Katie), Stewart White (Morgan), Maci Myers (Will), Griffin Heavrin, Emma-Kate Myers (Preston), Chloe White, and Greyson Osowicz. “Pop” so enjoyed his great-grandchildren—McCauley Myers, Katherine White, John William Myers, Everett Myers—and was so excited for the arrival of Hudson White. His siblings, Roy White, Sharon Johnson (Buddy), Joel White (Karen) and John Mark White; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Gibson and Son Funeral Home, 315 Caroline Street, Lewisport, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with the service immediately following. Burial will follow in Lewisport Cemetery.
