Charles Cecil Riley, 63, passed away peacefully at his residence in Owensboro, Kentucky, on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Born on January 27, 1962, Charles was the beloved son of the late William C. Riley and Mary Louise Riley.

Charles, known affectionately as “Chucky” to many, will be forever remembered for his kind heart, unwavering strength, and the immense love he shared with his family and friends. Known for his impeccable memory and infectious laughter, he had a unique ability to recognize faces and always remembered birthdays—a quality that endeared him to everyone he met. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his legacy will live on in the cherished memories of those who loved him.

During his high school years at Owensboro High School, Charles excelled both academically and athletically, becoming a standout student and athlete. He proudly earned a place on the honor roll and demonstrated his talent in football, basketball, and baseball. As a member of the 1980 Owensboro High School basketball team, he contributed to their remarkable championship title win, a moment etched into the school’s history.

In addition to his parents, Charles leaves behind to mourn his loss: his two beloved children, Te’Asia Calhoun and Jermaine Calhoun; seven siblings—J T (Linda) Graddick of Chicago, IL, Vittoria Tucker of Indianapolis, IN, Cecilia (Gary) Butts of Indianapolis, IN, William Cosby, Nadine (William) Murphy, Robert Riley, and Marilyn (Michael) Brown, all of Owensboro; along with a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends who were fortunate to have him in their lives.

A celebration of life to honor Charles’s memory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Zion Baptist Church, 2311 W 9th St, Owensboro, KY 42301. Evangelist Dewayne Swanagan will serve as the eulogist, with Pastor Larry D. Lewis presiding.
