Dave C. Enders, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Signature Healthcare Hillcrest. He was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin to the late Clemens P. and Florence Staus Enders.
Mr. Enders retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer following 24 years of service. He was last stationed in Owensboro. Dave then had a 22-year career with Daviess County Schools in the transportation department where he built great rapport with the students. Many may remember him for his distinct hats.
Dave had a passion for softball which led to his umpiring the sport for 27 years, with some work at a national level. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves and Green Bay Packers fan.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Smith, earlier this month; siblings, Charles (Joann), Stanley (Nora), Phil (Judy) and Jimmy Enders; as well as a brother-in-law, Joseph Hacker.
Dave is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bev Westerfield Enders; children, Michael Enders (Naulayne), Karen Smith and Mark Enders (Kim); grandchildren, Carolyn (Josh), Bryan, Rachel and Joseph Enders and Chris Smith; sisters, Frances Hacker and Donna Zibley (Jeff); brothers, Donald Enders (Susan) and Jerry Enders; bonus-daughters, Ashley Rickard (Jackson) and Baylee Long; bonus-grandchildren, Lyla Rose Rickard, Violet Rae Rickard and Olivia Pearl Rickard; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 2nd at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
