William Ward McGary, age 92 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away March 31, 2025, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Kirk, KY on July 30, 1932, son of the late John William and Georgie Ellen Grause McGary. Billy Ward was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the United States Postal Service, where he was the Postmaster in the Hardinsburg office. After retirement, he wanted to stay in the work force and see his friends, so he began working as a part time stock clerk in a local grocery store. Billy Ward enjoyed working on his farm and being in his home, where he spent time reading and watching sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rita McGary.
He is survived by 3 children: Pat McGary of Louisville, KY
Steve McGary (Sherry) of Hardinsburg, KY
Susan Reeves (Robert) of Oakton, VA
5 grandchildren: Anthony, Andrew and Shawn McGary, John and Robert Reeves
1 great grandchild: Axel Dowell

Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11 AM with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, 9 – 11 AM.
