
Pennelope “Penny” Phelps Pavlas, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born January 15, 1950 in Ohio County to the late Raymond and Jewell Maxine Moore Phelps. Penny was a member of Green Brier Baptist Church. She loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed traveling, family picnics, cooking for her family, and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea in Cyprus, Greece with her husband and kids where she lived for 18 years.
Penny worked at the Cadillac Restaurant for over 25 years where she loved meeting new people. Her employees were like family to her. Many times, she helped “her girls” buy diapers or food for their kids. She respected everyone, and everyone respected and loved her. Helping others was a passion of hers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Gwen Phelps and a nephew, Dean Hedges.
Penny leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Nicholas Pavlas; sons, Andy (Panayiota) Pavlas and Raymond (Margarita) Pavlas; 5 grandsons, Nicholas (Raymond), Nicholas (Andy), Raphael, Andreas, and Charalambos ;1 granddaughter, Pennelope; a sister, Kathleen Moore of Utica, KY; an aunt, Carolyn Poole of Utica, KY; an uncle, Jackie Moore of Kincaid, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Brier Baptist Church Cemetery. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of his arrangements.
