Jimmie Dewayne Thompson, 77, of Owensboro, passed away March 15, 2025 at his home. He was born April 7, 1947 in Owensboro to the late Joseph Franklin Thompson and Margie Davis Frost. Jimmie was a self-employed floor installer and took pride in his work! He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church, Owensboro Antique and Classical Car Club and Oddfellows Brothers Lodge #132. He enjoyed trips to Gatlinburg with his wife, Judy, morning coffee with buddies, fishing with his sons, family reunions, and front porch rocking with Judy and neighbors. He also enjoyed golfing, camping and hunting. Jimmie was compassionate, strong-willed, generous, tender loving and had a great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chandler Dewayne Jones; stepdad, Charles Frost; and two brothers, Tommy Thompson and Don Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years and soulmate, Judy Layman Thompson; children, Jeff (Kristie) Thompson, Keith Jones, Rick (Jill) Jones, Scott (Natalie) Thompson, Tracy Leeper, Crystal Stevens, and Dylan Thompson Stevens (Elysha); grandchildren, Cassie, Skyler, Joey, Chelsea, Christian, Kailee, Erika, Madison, Blake, Maddie, Natalie, Mandy, Zoe, and Zac; 17 great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
