Cora Helena “Nanny” Colyer, 89, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born November 2, 1935 in Daviess County to the late William Gordon and Helen Millay. Cora loved dirt track racing, quilting, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maxie Lee Colyer Sr.; son, David Colyer Sr.; daughter, Debbie Williams; granddaughter, Jennifer Rush; great-granddaughter, Murphy Claire McDonald; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Colyer and Lisa Southard; two sons, Lee Colyer (Sandy) and Robbie Colyer; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon William Millay (Evelyn); sister, Clara Mae McDaniel; and many nieces and nephews.
A prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Cecil Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Powderly Memorial Gardens in Powderly.
