Saundra “Mammy” Lynn Hinton, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on March 7, 2025. She was born on September 21, 1952, to the late Nellie “Grammer” Pugh and Virgil Hinton.
In her spare time, Saundra enjoyed watching UK basketball and having the wind in her hair, riding on motorcycles and in convertibles. She was an animal lover and cherished the companionship of her birds, Stinky and Dinky, and her dog, Maggie. Saundra valued her family, above all, and relished the times they shared together. Her family will remember their dear Mammy as a strong-willed and loving caretaker.
Along with her parents, Saundra is preceded in death by her daughter, Tonja Simpson, and her stepfather, “Jimmy” James Pugh.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Zackery Simpson (fiancé, Tesla) and Cassaundra (Christopher) Brown; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Madison, Sophie, Bella, Serenity, Cayden, Maveryck, Iris, and Bristol; her son-in-law, Dewayne Simpson; and many other family members.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Pastor Donnie Embry officiating. Friends and family are invited to visitation, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
